Bukayo Saka Hat-Trick and Bellingham Winner Send England to 6-4 Third-Place Win Over France
Bukayo Saka scored a hat-trick and substitute Jude Bellingham struck an injury-time winner as England beat France 6-4 in a ten-goal thriller to claim third place at the 2026 World Cup.
E ngland beat France 6-4 in the third-place play-off at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on 18 July, in front of 64,478 spectators, in one of the most dramatic matches of the tournament.
England raced into a 4-0 lead by half-time through Declan Rice, Ezri Konsa and a Bukayo Saka brace, with Saka scoring twice inside the first 45 minutes. Kylian Mbappe pulled one back for France three minutes into the second half, and Bradley Barcola made it 4-2 six minutes later. Mbappe struck again in the 66th minute to make it 4-3.
Saka completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 87th minute to make it 5-3. Ousmane Dembele pulled France level at 5-4 in stoppage time, but substitute Jude Bellingham, on the pitch for only around 11 minutes, struck the winner moments later to make it 6-4 and secure third place for England.
Spain face Argentina in the final on 19 July in New York/New Jersey.
