Argentina Beat Ten-Man Switzerland 3-1 After Extra Time to Reach Semi-Finals
Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring and late extra-time goals from Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez sealed a 3-1 win for Argentina over a Switzerland side reduced to ten men after Breel Embolo was sent off.
A rgentina defeated Switzerland 3-1 after extra time at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on 11 July to reach the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup, in front of 69,045 spectators.
Alexis Mac Allister put Argentina ahead in the 10th minute. Switzerland levelled through Dan Ndoye in the 67th minute, but were reduced to ten men five minutes later when Breel Embolo was sent off. The scores stayed level through the rest of normal time, before Julian Alvarez restored Argentina's lead in the 112th minute and Lautaro Martinez completed the win in the 120th.
Argentina advance to face England in the semi-finals on 15 July in Atlanta.
