Argentina Score Twice Late to Beat England 2-1 and Set Up Final Against Spain
England led through Anthony Gordon before Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez struck in the final five minutes as Argentina came from behind to beat England 2-1 in Atlanta and reach the World Cup final.
A rgentina defeated England 2-1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on 15 July to reach the final of the 2026 World Cup.
Anthony Gordon put England ahead in the 55th minute. Argentina pushed for an equaliser and got the breakthrough late on: Enzo Fernandez levelled in the 85th minute, and Lautaro Martinez struck the winner in the 90th to complete the comeback. Elliot Anderson was booked for England in the 37th minute, while Lisandro Martinez, Cristian Romero and Rodrigo De Paul were all cautioned for Argentina.
Argentina advance to face Spain in the final on 19 July in New York/New Jersey.
