C olombia opened their World Cup with a 3-1 win over debutants Uzbekistan in their Group K opener at Mexico City Stadium, where a crowd of 80,824 saw the South Americans pull clear.
Munoz breaks through
Daniel Munoz put Colombia in front in the 40th minute. Uzbekistan, making their World Cup debut, responded after the break through Abbosbek Fayzullaev, who levelled in the 60th.
Diaz and Campaz settle it
Luis Diaz restored Colombia's lead in the 65th, and substitute Jaminton Campaz wrapped up the 3-1 win in stoppage time.
Group K
Colombia begin Group K with three points, in a group where Portugal and DR Congo drew 1-1 in the other opening fixture.
