Wissa Double Lifts Congo DR to 3-1 Win Over Uzbekistan in Atlanta

Yoane Wissa scored twice, including a 90th-minute clincher, as Congo DR beat Uzbekistan 3-1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in a match between already-eliminated sides.

C ongo DR beat Uzbekistan 3-1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on June 27 in front of 68,239 fans, though neither side could advance from Group K. The result left Congo DR with four points and Uzbekistan with none.

Uzbekistan took a surprise lead through Eldor Shomurodov in the 10th minute. Congo DR turned the match around completely in the second half, with Yoane Wissa equalising in the 68th minute and Fiston Mayele putting them in front in the 78th. Wissa then completed the scoring with a second goal in the 90th minute.

Both teams exit the tournament, with Colombia and Portugal advancing from Group K. Despite the defeat, Uzbekistan's first World Cup campaign provided memorable moments. Congo DR take some consolation from ending with four points.
