S weden made an emphatic start to their World Cup, brushing aside Tunisia 5-1 in their Group F opener at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, with Yasin Ayari scoring twice in a dominant team display.
A fast start
Ayari opened the scoring inside seven minutes with a long-range strike that curled into the top corner, and Alexander Isak doubled the lead in the 30th minute after a swift counterattack. Omar Rekik pulled one back for Tunisia just before the break to make it 2-1.
Sweden pull clear
Viktor Gyökeres restored the two-goal cushion in the 59th minute, and Mattias Svanberg made it 4-1 in the 84th. Ayari completed his brace deep in stoppage time to round off the scoring.
A statement win
The result gives Sweden a perfect start in a demanding Group F that also features the Netherlands and Japan, in front of 50,987 in Monterrey.
